Strolling around Seoul in a Hanbok #원데이한복

June 12, 2019

I have been to South Korea so many times that I have already lost count by now. I couldn't believe it took me so long to finally had the chance to try on the Korean traditional costume 한복 (Hanbok). It has always been on my mind but the weather and busy itinerary aren't always on my side.

I did some research on which Hanbok rental studio before my Spring trip to Seoul this year. I knew the weather will be good, all I need to do is just squeeze in some time into my shopping-food hunting-filled plan. After some research, I have decided to go with Oneday Hanbok 원데이 한북This is mainly due to all the pretty Hanbok photos they uploaded on their Instagram page! How could you resist that?!

Oneday Hanbok is on the second floor, right beside a corner butcher shop. There are a lot of other Hanbok rental shops nearby Gyeongbuk Palace. This one is a little further away from Gyeongbuk Palace but, it was worth the trip.

Once I step into the shop, it was chaotic! Lots of tourists and lots of staff basically running around. They have a huuuge collection of Hanbok with sizes varying from male (XS~2XL) and female (XS~4XL), there are also Hanbok for kids. All their Hanbok comes in a set (upper and lower garment) which they already prepared it beforehand. This is actually helpful as there are too many choices on display and I would have a really hard time deciding which top should match which bottom.

For tourists who don't speak or understand Korea, fret not as they have staffs who can speak fluent Chinese and English. The staffs will escort you to the fitting room, measure and recommend the best size for you. Tips: It will be easier if you do some homework as to which Hanbok you want and show them photos instead of choosing and making decisions on the spot.

I have already chosen my Hanbok beforehand, so I only showed them the photo from their Instagram. I was lucky that my size was available for the Hanbok that I wanted. Note: Each customer will be provided with two fitting chances. In cases of a misfit in Hanbok size, an additional fitting chance will be provided. Customers who wish to try more than two fittings will be charged an additional 2,000won/fitting).

Behold, the glam room! You can request the staff to help to set your hair. You can also decorate your hair with some accessories such as flower bands, diamond hairpins, etc (which are free of charge!).
